3 Vital Things To Consider When Choosing The Most Attractive Glasses Frames For Your Face

Posted on

Finding out that you need to wear prescription glasses can feel a little daunting for many people. Even though you may understand how important they are for your eyesight and vision correction, you may feel a little overwhelmed by the idea of wearing glasses for the first time.

With so many different styles, shapes and colours to choose from, you may feel concerned about choosing a pair that will be the most flattering and attractive for you. Here are the three things you should consider when choosing a pair of prescription glasses that you'll look and feel incredible in.

1. Your face shape

There are four standard face shapes, and finding out which one you have will help you to determine the best-shaped frames to choose for your new glasses. The right frames will accentuate your positive features and compliment the shape of your face accordingly.

Faces are generally either square, round, oval or rectangular. If you're not sure which shape your face is, it's worth chatting with your optician or sales consultant when you're choosing your frames. They ascertain your face shape and show you which frames are best suited to your face.

2. Your hair colour

Your hair colour plays a surprisingly important role in how well a pair of prescription glasses will suit you. It isn't about matching your hair colour to the colour of the frame, though; it's more about finding a frame colour that compliments or attractively contrasts with the colour of your hair.

For example, blondes with platinum undertones are better suited to pastels or light metallics, whereas blondes with honey or copper undertones will find richer colours or natural tones more complimentary. As a rule, the colours that suit you in clothing will also suit you when it comes to glasses frames, so bear that in mind when choosing.

3. Your face size

Recent trends in glasses frames have been for larger frames than those that have been popular in the past. While you may want to embrace designer trends when you chose your new glasses, be aware that these large frames don't suit everybody. Instead, choose glasses that are in proportion to the size of your face and your features.

As a rule, the glasses frames shouldn't go above the top of your eyebrows. Nor should they be so large that they end up resting on your cheeks. The width of the frames is also important, and they shouldn't be any wider than the natural width of your face.
